Historic Buildings and Grounds
Costumed interpreters and demonstrations were available on Thursday evenings through the summer
The 20,000 square foot Shaw Exhibit Building was open all year. Historic buildings and grounds are closed now but were open November through April with the exception of special events. They asked that you please walk carefully. The walkways and floors were like those of the 19th century. They asked that visitors refrain from touching the furnishings and wall coverings as you admired them. They asked to avoid bringing strollers in the historic buildings. Pets were not allowed on the premises, except for guide dogs. Eating, drinking and smoking were not allowed in historic buildings, exhibit areas, or on the grounds. Visitors were encouraged to use the art of photography when capturing memories at the museum. They did not allow flash photography in the interior spaces.
