Learn the history, etiquette, costuming and dance steps of Victorian Dancing. The Victorian Dance Society teaches a combination of fast and vigorous dances as well as slow and stately arrangements. The focus is on the years 1837-1901 and includes such dances as the Spanish Dance, Waltz, Quadrille, Lancers, Grand March, Schottishe, Virginia Reel and many more.

Society members hold dances and workshops and perform in period costume at special events. Public performance is optional for each member. The Society is open to any individual or couple interested in Victorian Dance. Previous dance experience is not necessary. Our meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at the Museum, and on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Williamsville VFW Post on Spring Street, from 7-9 PM. Annual dues are $25 at the individual level. This includes membership in both the Society and Amherst Museum. Membership is from January 1 to December 31. Please see the membership page for instructions on how to join.
