PHOTO CONTEST!

New this year -- take part in The Museum's Scottish Festival Photo Contest!
The winning photograph will be featured on the cover of the 2010 Scottish Festival Program and the winner will receive a free Supporting Patron admission (value: $150) for the 2010 event.

There's so much to do at the Scottish Festival & Highland Games, and so much to see -- we want to see what your favorite images of the event are, and look forward to featuring the winning photograph on next year's program. Bagpipers, athletes, musicians, friends and family enjoying Scottish food, fun and games -- we want to see what *you* see at the Festival! But, just one tip: we're looking for photos of the event specifically, and not of the grounds in general (the historic buildings, etc.). Show us what makes the annual Scottish Festival a special day!

Photo Contest Rules

  1. All submissions must be taken at the 2009 Scottish Festival and Highland Games, August 15, 2009. Photos will be judged by the staff of Amherst Museum. Judges’ decisions are final.

Entries may also be submitted as an un-mounted 5” x 7” print, an 8” x 10” print, or on CD. Prints and CDs must be accompanied by an entry form, and will not be returned.
  3. By submitting your photograph, you agree to grant Amherst Museum a Non-Exclusive License to its use, as follows:
I grant a Non-Exclusive License to Amherst Museum to photograph and reproduce this work for all standard museum purposes, including, but not limited to, educational, research, and public service work; registration, documentation and record-keeping; publication in exhibition catalogues, books, brochures, or the like; publicity in all media including print, television, electronic, and the Museum's World Wide Web site, and any other purposes deemed necessary by the Museum in connection with an exhibition or general Museum publicity. This non-exclusive license, which does not transfer ownership of my copyright to Amherst Museum, shall endure for the entire term of the copyright in and to said work and shall survive all assignments of copyright, according to U.S. Code Title 17.
  4. Submitted images may feature Amherst Museum’s buildings and grounds, Festival events, demonstrations, participants, performers or attendees. However, if your image recognizably depicts a non-participant (for example, a friend or family member, or another Festival attendee; anyone not associated with the Museum or the Scottish Festival) you must fill out a Standard Photo Release form to signify their permission, and include this form with your entry.
  5. Entries must be submitted between August 15, 2009 and October 15, 2009.
  6. Entries must be submitted by the person who is the sole author and owner of the photograph and its copyright.
